HISTORY - Villa Hubertus - Spindleruv Mlyn - Giant Mountains
Špindlerův Mlýn (i.e. Špindler's Mill) is referred to already in older written sources as the pearl of the Giant Mountains.
The 13th July 1793 constitutes an important milestone in the history of the town. On that day, the Emperor Franz II. issued a patent permitting the construction of a church in this area. Since the petition to the Emperor stated that it had been drawn up in a mill owned by Špindler the miller, the Emperor's decision was thus addressed onto Špindler's Mill (i.e. Špindlerův Mlýn).
The history of the hotel began in 1849. The inn of those days profited mainly from its ideal location in the centre of the town right by the bridge across the Elbe River. In 1904, the inn was converted into a hotel.
